Zero Punctuation : Aliens vs Predator

escapist-Yes! Another awesome review.

Final, glistening Super Street Fighter IV character revealed

joystiq-Capcom has revealed the final new character for Super Street Fighter IV, and he's ... well, he's a giant dude covered in oil. Like, Hakan actually oils himself up before each round. This has the aesthetic effect of being extraordinarily off-putting, and the functional effect of allowing him to slide across the stage as if it were the Crocodile Mile. And since he's a grappling-type character, you get these really great squishing noises whenever he grabs another character.

GDC 2010: OnLive Release Date and Monthly Fee Announced

vgchartz-Yes, it's not vaporware, and it's releasing sooner than you think

After last GDC's surprise announcement, the new online platform OnLive is close to be released. The company announced that the service will launch for PC and Mac on June 17 in the United States, with a monthly fee of $14.95, according to the official site. Of course, that doesn't include the games you'll have to buy to play. More info here.

Final Fantasy XIII Sells 450,000 Units in the Americas on Day One

vgchartz
-A very strong start for the latest Final Fantasy title with two thirds of sales on PS3.

Preliminary day one sales are in for Final Fantasy XIII, and with around 290,000 units sold on PS3 and 160,000 units sold on Xbox360 it looks like the title is a success. With recent reports of 5 million units shipped worldwide, that likely breaks down to two million in Japan and around 1.5 million in each of the Americas and Other Regions (Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Australia).

A day one figure of 450,000 should increase by around 40-50% by the end of the week meaning that around 45% of the initial shipment would have sold through in week one, with the rest of the shipment likely to last through to the end of April. The game launches in other regions on Friday and VGChartz expects a similar figure of around 500,000 units to be sold in the first couple of days with the PS3 version leading by at least 2:1. Music Games + REAL Instruments = Power Gig, Due Fall 2010

vgchartz-So you're a Guitar Hero. Can you play any real music? Most likely: probably not much.

One game is looking to change that when it releases this fall on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring has a bit of a dorky name, but it's aiming for the sky. By taking the Guitar Hero/Rock Band "play this song yourself" mentality and throwing a real instrument into the mix, you have an entirely more immersing (and educational) experience. Read on and ROCK ON!!!

The Five Most Badass Japanese Game Designers

O.C.Weekly-No question. These guys aren't just badasses, they're gaming gods. Here's why:

Rock Band to Release Cartman's "Poker Face"

comedycentral-It was announced today that four Lady Gaga songs are being released in the Rock Band Music Store for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. And in a classic case of lead-burying, it was additionally revealed that Eric Cartman's version of Gaga's "Poker Face" would also be made available in the store. Of course, as exciting as this is, I'm pretty sure that if Lady Gaga herself ever sings Cartman's cover of her song, it will cause a temporal loop and tear apart the very fabric of space-time.

The Definition of Insanity

Most Expensive Video Games: Were They Worth the Money?

nydailynew-Video games like “Halo 3” and “Modern Warfare 2” have made headlines for the amount of money they earned, but the Hollywood-sized budgets needed to create them are just as noteworthy. And like the box office blockbuster hopefuls, there is no guarantee that a huge budget will equal a hit – there is a bloated failure here for every critical success.

1st Crysis 2 Screenshots

ign-Check them out here. Pretty exciting!

Cheap Ass Games review of 24: The Game for PS2.

Games based on TV shows and movies usually don't turn out too well. They don't translate the excitement you see on the big screen very well. Just look at Star Trek D.A.C. or Jaws: Unleashed. This week, I bought 24: The Game. Now I was a fan of this particular show quite some time ago. I still watch it but nowadays, I'm usually listening to it on Hulu while doing other things on my computer. It's gotten pretty dull and formulaic these days.

The game is pretty dull and formulaic in its own right. Dull graphics, dull mini-games spoil this third person shooter from the start. The driving levels were horrible with kamikaze police cars crashing into you all over L.A.

The story which was written by one of the shows writers, is okay but it kinda put me to sleep after awhile just like the show.

If you love the show then maybe you'll enjoy the game. I don't think you will though.

Verdict: If i paid full price for this game, I'd give it a 5.75. Having paid about $6 for it, I'm still giving it a 5.75. This is one of the worst TV/movie adaptations ever. Please stay away from this turd. But if you wanna try it out check out the links to prices are so here you go . eBay/Amazon/ Half.com

If you wanna play an action packed spy game check out: any Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, or Siphon Filter game. Also Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy and Quantum of Solace are also good games. Coming soon are The Agency and Alpha Protocol.

Great Diablo-clone to hold you over until Diablo 3 ships

I cannot wait until Diablo 3 finally arrives. I've been a fan since the original and I have an older PC just to play the first two incarnations every once in a while as well as other older games. There are many decent Diablo-clones floating around these days. A good friend of mine turned me onto a great one called Torchlight. This game is beautiful with lots of vibrant colors. It looks like a nightmare that was made into a Disney movie. Easy point and click controls and its only 19.95 so its a cheap ass game. The only downside is there is no online multiplayer. Now I know that multiplayer could kill this game for many out there. Ever since Gaunlet came out, killing goblins and trolls with your friends has been a major selling point. It's still a great game that's worth every penny . Check out the free demo here and the game trailer here. You wont be disappointed Also check out these other great Diablo-clones

New Alpha Protocol Trailer in HD

One of my favorite types of games I like playing are spy/ stealth games. Another type is the RPG genre. Combine those two and I'm in heaven. Sega and Obsidian have come up with this game, Alpha Protocol, and it looks freaking sick. The release date is June 1st, 2010 and you can check out the newest trailer here. Nice screens too.

Welcome to my blog!!!

Hello, My name is Wilson and I've been gaming for more than 30 years. Ever since I was a kid and I got my first game system, an Atari 2600, I've been playing video games and loving it. I own many systems old and new. It's my favorite hobby. One thing I love to do is play games on older systems. Just about every game system that has been discontinued still has a lot of great games that can be found dirt cheap. That's the reason I started this blog was to let people know about some of the gems that I've found. Plus as the title tells you, I'm cheap. I don't know about you but I can't afford all these newer games for the newest consoles such as the PS3 or 360, although I own both. Sixty bucks a pop can be a little costly for this gamer.

Another reason I don't like buying newer games is in my opinion, a lot of these newer games suck balls. For every Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, there's a Dark Void or two, or seven, or ...you get my point. And I hate buying a full priced game on the first day it's available and it turns out to be a turd. Thanks a lot "Enter the Matrix". I've seriously been burned too many times to count.

Maybe I'm a little jaded but I still love gaming. I'm just a little more cautious about what I buy these days. Hell, were in a recession and money is tight but older games are so cheap right now. i cannot fathom buying three or four next-gen games a month anymore. Buying older games doesn't hurt the wallet as much and my fiancee complains a lot less when i pick 5 games for around $20 dollars on eBay.

So what do I plan to accomplish with this blog you might ask? Basically I'll review games that I've purchased and give them two ratings. One rating for buying a game new and one for buying it used. Why two ratings? Simple. If I pay full price for a crapfest of a game then I feel jaded and I want to find the jerks who made this game and beat the living snot out of them with it them with it.

Okay next scenario. Let's say I buy the same game used for $7 dollars. It's still a crapfest but I'm not as mad because I paid so much less for it. My blood pressure isn't as high.
I don't want to hurt anybody because I didn't waste a lot of money. I'd be little more forgiving so I'd give it a slightly higher rating

Let's use a game that I recently purchased for the Xbox called "Black". It's a FPS with a weak story. It wasn't a great game and if I paid full price for it I would have given it a 5.0 rating. Not a bad game but also not a great game. Now, I paid $4 dollars for this game so for that I give it a 7.75. in my opinion, since I paid so little for the game, I definitely got my moneys worth.

Other topics I will touch on are subjects such: news from the gaming industry, the best place to buy games and buying tips that I use, sales on games if I find them, and games to stay away from no matter how cheap, just to name a few.

If you have any suggestions on games to review Email me .

First review will appear in a few days until then, keep gamin'.

Games I'm currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Burnout:Revenge, Fable I and II, and Eternal Sonata.
